Alec Derrig, CPA, CFP®
Founder and Financial Advisor at Sand Run Wealth Management, and a lifelong Northeast Ohioan.
Saving, investing, and personal financial planning have interested Alec for as long as he can remember. That interest initially led him to study finance at Kent State University with the goal of becoming a financial advisor.
An early internship in the industry ultimately pushed him in a different direction. The experience felt more focused on selling life insurance and financial products than providing the kind of long-term advice and investment management he envisioned. Alec instead began his career in public accounting, working in tax and earning his CPA license before moving into a finance and accounting role within a private family office.
Today, his work spans investment analysis across private equity and real estate, cash-flow and liquidity planning, and financial reporting. That experience has given him a firsthand perspective on how thoughtful planning, disciplined investing, and sound financial management work together over time.
After earning the CFP® certification and passing the Series 65 examination, Alec decided it was time to return to his original passion and founded Sand Run Wealth Management.
Sand Run Wealth Management was built around a straightforward idea: helping individuals and families invest in their future and work toward the financial goals that matter most to them. Alec’s vision is to bring the same discipline and care he has developed throughout his career to every client relationship.
